Our Team

  • When Eric was a teenager, his mother asked him to fit her new collection of china into a buffet cabinet. He embraced the challenge and today equates the enjoyment of that task to the puzzle of neatly fitting rooms into an architectural structure. Eric received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Texas in 1983. In his senior year, he was hired by the Texas Historical Commission as an architectural consultant with the state-sponsored Main Street Project, assisting small Texas towns in restoring their historic downtown buildings. This influenced Eric’s decision to relocate to the small town of Fredericksburg where he married, started a family and continued to work for a local architectural firm. In 1993, he went off on his own and founded Mustard Architects.

  • In 9th grade, Whitney drew a suspension bridge for her high school art class. Her meticulous attention to detail was apparent in her work. Her family noticed her ability to solve intricate problems and encouraged her to pursue her interest in engineering. In college, Whitney realized that her bent was more towards architecture because it encompassed design in addition to technical problem-solving. She received her Bachelor of Architecture degree in 2006, and a Master of Architecture degree with a Certificate in Historic Preservation in 2008, from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Whitney worked in San Antonio specializing in Historic Preservation and Civic-related projects. Her passion for finding creative solutions to tough problems propels her designs whether she's working with an existing structure or a new design. She moved to Fredericksburg to start her family and began working at Mustard Architects in 2008. She became a partner in 2022.

  • Andy’s interest in architecture was sparked as early as 4th grade, when he watched his parents work with an architect to develop house plans. In his first year at Texas A&M, Andy recalls encountering some of the great works of architectural design and his eyes were forever opened. He then recognized the importance of designing with emotion and how good design can influence a person in a positive way. Andy went on to receive his Bachelor of Environmental Design from Texas A&M University in 1995. His career began in Dallas where he worked with retail developments, institutional clients, and web based project management. In search of a quieter life, Andy and his young family moved to Fredericksburg in 2005 when he joined Eric and helped expand the firm in commercial developments. Andy is currently a partner and is grateful for diverse project types and strong client relationships.
